Starting Our Off Grid Life

Personal | TravelBack in 2016 we decided that we needed to see a bit more of the World and decided that we'd travel more. We bought a Caravan and started out on a journey around England.
The idea of having a caravan was so that we could live a "normal life" and then get away for trips at weekends or extended trips around the UK. The thing is that we absolutely loved the caravan lifestyle and the sense of freedom it offered that we quickly decided that this was life that we wanted to see more of and certainly not be limited to the UK.
Selling up
We loved the travelling life so much that the thought now of living in a flat in Hove, as we were, seemed so stifling that we decided that we'd sell up and buy a larger home on wheels.
A few months later and after some serious mental struggles with getting rid of the stuff we had been hanging on to for years and never really knowing why. We sold the flat and most of our belonging were either sold, given to family or went off to the charity shop.
We still don't regret that decision and it certainly gave us the freedom to buy a nice Motorhome. What we ended up with was an Autotrail Comanche. Based on a Fiat Ducato chassis and built in England it has a large lounge area, kitchen with cooker, oven, microwave, fridge /freezer, a toilet and separate shower, bedroom with "island" bed plus a rather spacious storage space we called "The Garage".
Here we are parked up at the Castillo De Banos campsite in Spain.

We've loved every minute of traveling around and you can see from our little solar panel in front that we are able to live the off-grid lifestyle with a decent battery bank and some LPG to keep us going.
